This collaborative design project reimagines the company headquarters
of Thrive Market in Shirakawa-go, Japan.
The space marries Thrive
Market's focus on personalization and wellness with Shirakawa-go’s unique aesthetic and Japanese traditions.
Concept
Our group's vision centers around creating a welcoming, customized environment where Thrive Market's community-centric values meet
the tradition of Shirakawa-go. Influenced by Japanese minimalism,
we integrated soft, geometric patterns and origami-inspired motifs, blending craftsmanship with a contemporary touch. Curved lines, organic shapes, and natural materials establish a sense of connection with the surrounding landscape.
design features
Interactive, tactile installations encourage guest engagement, highlighting Thrive Market’s commitment to personalized experiences. Each zone of the space is thoughtfully curated to offer immersive interactions with Thrive Market's mission, emphasizing wellness and community in a way that reflects local heritage.
skills & learning
This semester-long project strengthened our collaborative abilities and software skills, including SketchUp, Enscape, AutoCAD, and Photoshop. Partnering with Allsteel, we gained hands-on experience specifying materials, finishes, and furniture, along with pricing considerations.
Our team also developed furniture and finish schedules, created renderings and floor plans, and gained an understanding of fire codes, safety standards, and egress planning, making this a well-rounded learning experience.
